Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Common app (the "App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Common iOS app and the backend service that supports it.

We have built Common around a simple principle: the content and information you provide belongs to you, not to us. We store it only so the App can function, and we describe exactly how below.

1. Our privacy commitments

We store the information you upload because it is technically necessary to run the App — for example, your posts must be saved so they can be shown in feeds, and your messages must be saved so they can be delivered.

2. Information we collect

We only collect information that is needed to operate Common. We do not collect location data, advertising identifiers (IDFA), contacts, health data, financial/payment information, or browsing activity in other apps. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

a. Information you provide when you create an account

Common uses Sign in with Apple as its only sign-in method. When you sign in, we receive and store:

We do not receive or store your Apple password.

b. Profile information

c. Content you create and upload

d. Authentication and technical data

We do not collect device advertising identifiers, precise or coarse location, or analytics telemetry.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above only to operate and support the App, specifically to:

We do not use your information for advertising, for sale to third parties, or to build behavioral or social-graph profiles for any purpose other than the core social features you are using directly (for example, showing you posts from people you follow).

4. How your information is shared

Other users

Common is a social app, so some information is shared with other users by design:

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers strictly to run the App. They may process data only on our behalf and only to provide their service to us:

We do not authorize these providers to use your information for their own purposes.

Legal

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other valid legal process, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.

We do not sell your data

We do not and will not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, because it is needed to operate the App (for example, your posts and messages must remain stored to be displayed and delivered).

When you delete your account, we delete your account and the personal content associated with it from our active systems. Some content that is inherently shared may persist in limited ways — for example, a message you sent remains visible to its other recipient(s) as part of their conversation, and reports may be retained for safety and legal record-keeping. Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten.

6. Your rights and choices

You have control over your information:

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at common.ios.support@gmail.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. Account and data deletion

You can permanently delete your account from within the App at any time. When you delete your account:

If you are unable to access the App and wish to delete your account, contact us at common.ios.support@gmail.com and we will process your request.

8. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the App and our servers, secure on-device storage of authentication tokens in the iOS Keychain, and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.

9. Children's privacy

Common is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at common.ios.support@gmail.com and we will delete it.

10. International data transfers

Your information is stored and processed on Amazon Web Services in the United States (US East / N. Virginia region). If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Terms of Use

App: Common
Developer: Victor Tarnovski
Effective date: July 28, 2026
Last updated: July 28, 2026

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Victor Tarnovski ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Common app and the service behind it (the "App"). The Privacy Policy above is part of these Terms.

By creating an account or using Common, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Eligibility and your account

2. Your content

You keep all rights to the photos, captions, comments, messages, and other content you create. You grant us only the limited permission we need to host, store, and display that content in order to operate the App for you and the people you share it with. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for the content you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.

3. Content standards — what is not allowed

The following content is not allowed anywhere in the App, including in posts, captions, comments, usernames, display names, profile pictures, bios, chat names, and messages. When we identify content that breaks these rules — through automated screening, a report, or our own review — we hide or remove it and may act on the account behind it:

4. How content moderation works

To enforce the standards above, Common uses a combination of automated screening and human review of reports:

Automated moderation is not perfect, and we do not review everything that is posted. Automated screening can miss content that breaks the rules above, and it can flag content that is perfectly fine — so you may still come across content in the App that should not be there. If you do, please report it: reports are the main way we find what automated screening misses. We would rather review a mistake than leave harmful content up.

5. If you think we got a moderation decision wrong

If your content was hidden, removed, or restricted and you believe that was a mistake, please tell us — we will take another look, and we will restore content that we removed in error.

Email common.ios.support@gmail.com with your username and a short description of the content and when you posted it. The same address is the right place to report content or behavior that you believe we have missed.

6. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, that is used to abuse or endanger other people, or where we are required to act by law. You can delete your account at any time from within the App, as described in the Privacy Policy above.

7. The App is provided "as is"

Common is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect and remove every piece of objectionable content. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, or for content posted by other users.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
